Many of us have had times in our lives when we’re trying to decide, should I stay or should I go? I have been in the same place myself:
- In 2000 after a rough divorce, I got remarried, she lived in Philadelphia and me Los Angeles. For a year, we flew back and forth every other week to be with each other. – Go
- In 2001 we moved our relationship from the phone/plane to a house in L.A. – Stay
- In 2005 we moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to cement our lives together…but we had no potential job prospects. – Go
- In 2009, I got laid off and rebooted and began working as a consultant – Stay
- In 2011, I had the opportunity to work in Regina, Saskatchewan. We sold our house and moved to Canada. – Go
- In 2013, we moved to Victoria, British.- Go
- In 2018 we became a permanent residents of Canada. – Stay
- In 2020 we became Canadian citizens. – Stay
- In 2021, we bought my first home Canada. – Stay
- In 2024 , we moved back to the U.S. (Seattle)…with no potential job prospects. – Go
Note: Throughout this time, I was fired, laid-off, promoted, passed over and resigned and facilitated the same to others.
The process of working through “Should I stay or should I go ” is something, I’ve planned, felt, been and done, from $100m dollar organizational transformations to individuals looking for something new or better.
If you find yourself in the same place and need help, let’s talk about it.
I coach leaders, teams or individuals to work through their Stay/Go decisions, by being comfortable in their own skins, true to themselves and committed to real and lasting change in their lives, their companies and their relationships.
